In the resin industry, it’s worth knowing the most commonly used resin and what the best performing one is for its use.

We recently introduced a Non-UVR resin to our leading ProResin range. So we have put together some of the most frequently asked questions on ProResin Non-UVR and resin bound paving.
What is ProResin Non-UVR
ProResin Non-UVR was introduced to the market by us, SureSet Resin Systems, as a more economical purchase (given the current climate) for resin paving installers. However, it does come with a few differences from our superior ProResin UVR product.
How does it differ from a UVR resin?
There are three main differences between ProResin UVR and Non-UVR. The first is that ProResin Non-UVR has a catalyst included within the formula – this means it will cure quicker but offers less control over your installations. Secondly, is the appearance, a non-UVR resin will be affected by sunlight causing the aggregate blend to appear darker and the resin will yellow over time. Thirdly, the cost is competitive which is a reflection of the differentials.

Tip: Always check with suppliers what resin type you are being offered for the cost.
Will a Non-UVR resin be SuDS compliant?
When using a Non-UVR resin as part of a resin bound paving system, the paving will be porous, allowing water to run through from the top surface directly beneath and will run with the fall that will lead to a natural or manmade soak-away to help reduce flooding. It’s important to point out that you gain different porosity rates depending on the stone size used within the resin bound system, the larger the stone the greater the water flow. To ensure you gain a full SuDS compliant surface, install resin bound onto a permeable base.
What would I use a Non-UVR resin for?
Use to keep a resin bound surfacing system cost effective whilst having the benefits of a hard wearing, attractive surface suitable for a wide range of project types. From domestic residentials to commercial schemes resin bound surfacing is suitable for car parks, access roads, cycle paths, walkways, tree surrounds, courtyards, driveways and pool surrounds. Its excellent slip resistance makes it ideal for healthcare, education, leisure, and public schemes to offer a safe, decorative, low maintenance surfacing option.
About Resin bound paving
Resin bound paving is a seamless surface resulting from aggregate and resin being mixed together. When installed, this surface is porous, decorative, and durable making it a brilliant option for driveways, pathways, and communal areas. All materials are mixed in a forced action mixer and then laid onto a prepared base in a continuous formation.
How is it to maintain resin bound paving?
Resin bound surfaces are known for their easy low maintenance, with occasional sweeping to remove leaves and debris and cold power wash, up to 150 bar, to remove dirt and grime. This makes resin bound cleaning a quick chore for very little maintenance cost.
What are the benefits of resin bound paving?
Resin bound paving systems are permeable – the water will drain through. It also has great aesthetics with many aggregate choices, colours and bespoke design capabilities. It is highly durable throughout all weather conditions and is easy to maintain.
What sustainability credentials does resin bound paving have?
The permeability properties of a resin bound surface meaning it is SuDS compliant which is supported by the environmental agency for natural water drainage. The surface is a cold laid system so there is less energy used on site which in turn helps to the sustainability of all our projects...  We use post-consumer plastic tubs and often take our Ecobatcher machine to ensure fewer materials go to landfill and there is minimal waste. As a company, we also have a BBA accreditation meaning our products and systems have passed a series of comprehensive assessments, including laboratory tests, on-site evaluations, quality management checks, and inspections of production.
