Granta Park
Background
Launched in 1997, Granta Park in Great Abington, Cambridgeshire, is a partnership between The Welding Institute (TWI) and BioMed Realty Trust, Inc. and home to leading companies, including MedImmune, Illumina, Pfizer, and PPD.
A licensed member of the Engineering Council, TWI supports welding and joining personnel; promoting the profession and its importance in today’s world.
TWI also serves as a voice for the industry, providing authoritative, respected guidance to statutory bodies such as the British Standards Institution, Engineering Council and UK Government.
Solution
In 2017 TWI opened three new buildings creating a reception, library, conference centre, restaurant, training centre, management accommodation and a new boardroom.
The ground floor of these RIBA award winning buildings are mostly glass with the remaining floors finished with multi-coloured terracotta ‘baguette’ tiles.
All that remained for these amazing buildings was an external surface to fully complement its style and design.
When an innovative, environmentally friendly, good looking and hard-wearing surface is required, there really is only one option – resin bound paving.
We were contacted P C Cooney Ltd., who were working on the project, to tender for the resin bound aspect.
Result
Our highly skilled Installation Team were on site in January 2018, to lay 214m² of SureSet Natural Aggregate resin bound paving, in 6mm Norwegian Bronze.
The obvious choice for an organisation ‘Centred on science’ the beautiful natural colour of Norwegian Bronze sits perfectly with the terracotta baguette tiles and the ACO drains.
