As you can see, the DIYPack offers excellent value for money, but that’s not all. Let’s explore the benefits of having a SureSet patio at home.
Benefits Of A SureSet Patio
The practical benefits of SureSet permeable paving include:
• It is porous; allowing water to drain through to the sub-base
• It is low maintenance; reducing weeds and puddles
• It is hardwearing; guaranteed no colour fade or cracking
• It is completely smooth; no loose stone to gravitate to other areas of the garden
• It is accessible; the perfect surface for pushchairs, bicycles, wheelchairs and mobility scooters
• it is fully SuDS compliant; no planning permission required
• It is guaranteed for 21 years (only when installed by one of our Approved Installers or Global Partners).
But don’t just take our word for it, here’s what our existing customer, Roger Young, has to say:
“The DIYPack was delivered well packed and protected and consisted everything required to do the job.
For an amateur like myself, the instructions were clear and concise and the mixing of the resin itself was easy using the mixer included. Once it was well mixed the application between the aluminium edges was straightforward the edging really finished it off well.
I am glad I saw the advert on television as I wanted something different to concrete, interlocking bricks or tarmacadam. SureSet really finishes the house off and is not seen on many other paths - as yet.”
With those words to inspire you, keep reading and find out how easy it is to lay a patio with SureSet permeable resin bound paving. Laying A Patio – The Basics You can create a new patio from scratch using our SureSet DIYPack, or you can lay the paving over your existing patio. Here are the basics of doing it yourself.
- Prepare the Area
Start by preparing the area. Remove the grass and any other plants, roots, stones, etc. if you’re laying it over what is currently lawn. Make sure the area is level and firmly compacted before you lay the sub-base – we recommend SureCell. If you’re laying SureSet over your existing patio, make sure it’s clean and free of debris. If the size of your patio means you’re using more than one DIYPack, make sure you mark out the batches.
- Lay Edging and Protect the Surrounds
Edging stops the resin bound paving from spreading beyond the edges of what is to be your new patio. It also provides a neat appearance and even offers scope to create designs. Lay edging at the edges of your new patio. You can use granite setts, paving slabs, block paving, aluminium profile edging, or another suitable material. Use ground sheets or other suitable materials to protect the area immediately surrounding the area to be paved.
- Prepare the Resin Bound Paving
Mix the resins according to instruction, and then combine the mixed resin and the aggregate. Mix them using the whisk mixer drill. Make sure you use the recommended batch rates when preparing the resin bound paving.
- Pour and Smooth the Paving
Pour the resin bound paving from the bucket onto the area that you’re paving. Working quickly, trowel by hand, leaving a fine grit cast as you go, until the finish is smooth and level.
- Secure the Area and Leave to Cure
Secure your newly paved patio when you have finished trowelling. You don’t want people or animals walking on the surface while it cures and dries, as they’re likely to leave prints. Leave the permeable resin bound paving to dry overnight. It’s even better if you can leave it for 24 to 48 hours. Thereafter, your patio is ready for use!
