SureSet poppies for War Memorial
Along with landscape architects Wynne-Williams Associates, Blakedown Environment and Leisure were appointed to carry out a project to restore and enhance Hunstanton Heritage Gardens.
Due for completion in June 2017, the £1.3m project was funded by The National Lottery and included:
- The Green, a large triangular open space near the town centre
- The colourful Esplanade Gardens
- The open Cliff Parade
- The Flood Memorial
- The Cenotaph War Memorial
The War Memorial commemorates those killed in the First World War (1914-1918), Second World War (1939-1945) and 20th Century Wars (1900-1999). In the memorial garden was a red and green paved poppy. We were contacted about removing the existing poppy installing two resin bound poppies in November 2016.
Our client, Blakedown Environment and Leisure, contracted us in March 2017 to remove an existing paved poppy, that had deteriorated into a sorry condition, and install two new resin bound poppies.
SureSet Spectrum® was specified to ensure vibrant UV stable colours, guaranteed to not fade. We coloured tumbled recycled glass to produce the Traffic Black, Traffic Red and Emerald Green colours that were used for this project.
The installation took place in April 2017 and our Installation Team were delighted to remove the tired old poppy and replace it with not one, but two colourful resin bound poppies.
The colour of the resin bound poppies are vibrant and eye-catching; guaranteed not to fade or the stones become loose.
The Cenotaph War Memorial now has poppies that are guaranteed for 18 years.
Jemma Curtis, the Regeneration Programmes Manager of Borough Council of King's Lynn & West Norfolk said that they are “a fitting and quality feature to accompany the war memorial.”.
