The Smart Paving Choice for Business Park Courtyard
The recent installation of a new commercial courtyard at Chineham Business Park in Basingstoke offers a widespread range of flexible industrial and office spaces.
The modern business park near Basingstoke central and the M3 were built with 815,000sq ft of potential business space and has proven to be a premier business location for Hampshire companies who want to grow a smart business.
Whilst the business centre offers a vibrant mix of landscaped spaces and various smart amenities, Aviemore Chineham Park Trust, wanted to refurbish the outdoor areas and acquired professional design drawings by architect’s Anthony Stiff Associates who specified resin bound paving featured in the centre of the modern courtyard design amongst trendy seating areas, cycle shelters and a newly planted Carpinus betulus 'Globe' shaped trees.
The main contractor Speller Metcalfe contacted SureSet to install the centre courtyard section and tree pit surrounds. We recommended a crack-reduction membrane (as a precaution for growing trees) to be used as part of the base preparations. A ‘Flexizone’ area was installed around all the newly planted ‘Globe’ trees to allow tree growth without disruption to the rest of the resin bound paving material within the courtyard, offering a seamless and pedestrian-friendly finish.
The resin bound courtyard installation required a fully permeable and durable surface to accommodate the social breakaway areas. To achieve this SureSet installed a SureCell base, a cellular structure made from recycled plastic, that was in-filled with loose aggregate and compacted ready for the resin bound material to be installed.
Both the SureCell sub-base and the SureSet resin bound surface layer were installed by SureSet offering Speller Metcalf an economical and efficient solution to completing the required paving.
