Resin Bound Pedestrian Areas
A courtyard is a private ‘public’ space, open to the sky and surrounded by a building or wall.
Courtyards can be found in pubs, hotels, apartment buildings, small housing developments, care homes, hospitals and individual residences.
The purpose of a courtyard is to provide a communal space for socialising, sitting or playing and can be designed to include any combination of seating, sculptures, tree pits, play areas or soft/hard landscaping.
The durability and flexibility of SureSet resin bound paving make it ideal for communal courtyards, whatever the design.
EnquireBenefits of Resin Bound Communal Courtyards
Practical and functional, our high-quality permeable communal courtyard surfacing significantly reduces problems caused by standing water, providing a wide range of safety, comfort and maintenance benefits, including:
- Reducing maintenance and running costs; the UV stability and permeability of SureSet improve the long-term appearance of a communal courtyard with minimal maintenance.
- Increasing safety; no loose stone can migrate or be catapulted into other areas, and the potential to slip is greatly reduced.
- The versatility of SureSet allows you to camouflage unsightly drains, maintenance hole covers, and surrounding trees with a tree pit.

Bases and Sustainability
Suitable SureSet communal courtyard paving bases include asphalt, concrete, crushed rock and SureCell. When applied to SureCell, our fully permeable reinforced stable sub-base, a fully SuDS-compliant surface is created.
When applied to a non-permeable base, the permeability of SureSet resin bound paving allows water to drain away, be harvested or discharged into drains or soak-aways.
