PU primer, short for Polyurethane primer, is a specialised coating used in various industries for surface preparation and enhancement. It acts as an intermediate layer between the substrate and the final coating, providing a smooth and consistent base for improved adhesion and durability of the topcoat.

Description

Additional Information

SureSet primer is a single part polyurethane based polymer used for priming concrete bases prior to SureSet Resin Bound Paving being installed. The SureSet primer has been specifically formulated to have a fast cure time so that installations on site are not delayed. As well as binding any dust on the surface, the primer improves the adhesion between the base and the SureSet surface layer.

Application:

Ensure the surfaces are dry, clean, free from debris, grease and fungal growth before use. Any cracks within the surface should be sealed prior to the primers application Apply to the dry surface using a brush and a lambs-wool/fleece roller Ensure the primer has fully cured before the installation of SureSet.

Coverage:

You should expect to achieve 8-10m² per lite of Primer depending on the concrete.

The main purpose of using PU primer is to promote adhesion between the substrate and the subsequent layers of coating. By forming a strong bond with the surface, the primer helps to prevent issues such as peeling, flaking, and delamination of the topcoat, ensuring a long-lasting and durable finish. In addition to enhancing adhesion, PU primers also offer other benefits. They can act as a barrier, protecting the substrate from moisture, chemicals, and corrosion. Some primers have filling properties, smoothing out imperfections on the surface and improving the overall appearance of the final coating.
