Why Choose Permeable?
Our environment is fragile, and we are all responsible for protecting it. We are aware of the environmental impact of our activities and the projects we are involved in and strive to ensure this is minimal.
One primary environmental concern is climate change and the resulting increase in rainfall and subsequent flooding. The Pitt Review into the summer 2007 floods found that more than two-thirds of the 57,000 homes affected were flooded by surface water runoff, not overflowing rivers.
EnquireThe Benefits of Permeable
SureSet permeable paving not only contributes to flood prevention but also delivers a long list of other benefits, including:
Natural Filtration: When permeable paving disperses surface or rainwater, it seeps through the sub-base on its way back to the ground. During this process, natural filtration occurs, reducing/removing impurities and pollutants and reducing the overall water runoff.
Reducing Standing Water (Puddles): SureSet resin bound paving is cold mixed on-site using a process that ensures every stone particle is completely covered in resin, forming a structurally stable 3D matrix.
SuDs Compliant: SureSet permeable paving is compliant with SuDs (Sustainable urban drainage systems): An approach to water management introduced by the Environmental Agency in 20122 to help manage flood risks and water quality.

Reducing the heat island effect: Heat islands exist because the land surface in towns and cities, mainly consisting of asphalt and concrete, absorbs and stores heat, making it significantly warmer than the surrounding countryside areas.
Permeable paving allows the soil underneath to breathe, reducing surface temperatures, especially in hot weather, reducing the heat island effect.
No planning permission required: Since Government Legislation in 2008, planning permission is not required for areas less than 5m” or if the new surface is permeable.
EnquireOur Sustainable Solutions
We aim to listen to your needs and offer the best solution, using the best products for the best value. While meeting this aim, we are also responsible for ensuring that the resin bound paving solutions we offer are sustainable and expect all our products to meet Permeable standards.
Onsite, we cold mix Natural Aggregate, Marble, Spectrum® or other recycled materials with our high-quality clear resin using the EcoBatcher – an efficient machine that massively reduces plastic waste. When these components are mixed, each particle is completely coated with resin, forming a 3D matrix. During the laying process minute, voids are formed that, when cured, mimic natural drainage by allowing water to pass through to the conventional sub-base. This efficient water dispersal brings many safety, comfort and maintenance benefits.
Even when SureSet is laid onto a conventional base, the permeability of our resin bound paving allows water to drain away to be harvested or discharged into drains or soak-aways.
EnquireEnvironmental Standards
We are aware of the environmental impact of our activities and the projects we are involved in and strive to ensure this is minimal. We have a Company Environmental Policy (the key points listed below) available to download.
- Legislation – the company complies fully with all environmental legislation and approved codes of practice
- Responsibilities – corporately and individually, various tasks and processes are undertaken to achieve best practices and ensure continual improvement.
- Waste Storage and Disposal – all waste is recycled wherever possible
- Management Practices – the company maintains compliance records and reviews legislation and industry best practices.
- Printing – we use FSC-certified printers and vegetable ink solutions.
